pitched yeast before checking OG

I meant to ask this right after I did it, but never got around to posting.....
when I made my last batch, I forgot to check the OG prior to pitching the yeast. Will this affect the number at all? All of the instructions I've read say to check it then pitch the yeast. I'm really not too concerned, just curious if the numbers will be a bit off.

It won't affect it unless the yeast has actually starting fermenting.
