Anyone recognize this growth, it appeared on a dry hop bag at the end of a week soaking. I siphoned off with no disturbance of the bag and bottled this one vs kegging. Anything to worry about?

The larger float looks like wild yeast or mold. I've seen this happen a few times in spontaneous beers I've brewed (which turned poorly). Sacc typically does not create those giant pontoons of yeast. Hard to say what the pink spot might be just from the color, but my guess from just the color is that there is some bacterial growth going on as well. Several bacteria produce pink tones like that. Some occur in cheesemaking but it's also what makes your shower turn pink around the edge of the tub. But that is really just a guess.

Personally I would not have high hopes for this beer but you know what it tastes and smells like. I'd try to fish that whole thing out and see if more grow in its place.

Thanks M, the larger tan blob is actually the hop bag, the only growth is the pink spot.

Pink is probably bacteria. And maybe not the good kind. A person repairing an ice machine told me pink stuff growing in them is salmonella. Don't know that he actually knew though other than you didn't want it in your ice machine much less getting in your ice.

This might be a dumper. But wait for some that know more about bacteria and such to answer.

So what have you found out or done with this?

I'm really surprised some of the other's here that seem to know more about such didn't see this post and offer some ideas on what that is.

Maybe being a weekend post it got buried by other post's and not noticed.
