I just brewed up an APA with a Perle / Amarillo combo. I used an ounce of perle at 60 minutes, 1/2 ounce of amarillo at 15, and another 1/2 ounce at 5 minutes.

I picked the hops based on availability at my LHBS (and the fact that cascade was about $6 an ounce there). Just wondering what you think of the hop combination.

Perle is a fine bittering hop. It provides a nice clean bitter flavor, and is very neutral.
Amarillo is another fine hop, I find that it works very well for flavoring and aroma. Also good for dry hopping.
You did great with your hopping schedule.

Amarillo is a Cascade sport, so it has many of the same characteristics. I find it has more of a grapefruit flavor early on that mellows nicely. My 3CPA uses Cascades/Perle/Amarillo mixed for flavor, aroma & dryhopping.
