So I am going to try a PM in a grain sack, my LHBS tells me this is ok to do. I was planning of doing this on the stove in somewhat of a double boiler. What about just dumping the grains in the stock pot for the mash and pooring everything threw a strainer with the grain sack to strain a little better? then sparge it in the strainer?

it's stickied in the beginners forum....don't know why it's there instead of this one, but at least it's somewhere! :ban:

if you're moving to this from doing extract only, i'd recommend that you mash as much grain as your pots can hold, boil the largest volume your system will allow and use the late extract method. you'll be impressed with the results.
