Oxygen absorbing caps -- sanitization

I've used a bag of them before. I think the instructions said not to boil or sanitize them and just cap the bottles because they're moisture activated or something. Never had any problems with them.
 
The coating inside the cap starts absorbing O2 as soon as it gets wet, so I wouldn't soak them or boil them or anything. I'd guess you're safe using them right out of the pack, but if you're worried you might be able to get away with a quick swab with star san and then immediately cap the bottle with it.
 
I soak my caps in a bowl of cheap vodka. and pick them from the bowl while I'm capping. Works well and when I'm done I just pour the rest of the vodka back into the bottle.
