origin of the word: WORT?

Does anyone know where the word wort comes from?? Good things will happen to me if I can find out. Thanx!

Its German, pronounced "wert". It literally translates as "word".

Wort comes from the old English word "wyrt" and possibly prior to that derives from the German word "wurze" (sp?) meaning spice.
