One of THOSE brew days

Well, after years of pretty smooth brew days, I just had a horrible experience! I'm making a hefeweizen, 70% wheat malt, so I wet a few pounds of rice hulls in a bucket. i then conditioned my malt as i always do. i thought - why not add the rice hulls now and mix them all in so i'm done with it? Well, i mixed them all in and then tried to mill. it was a disaster! the mill wouldn't pull it through at all. i had to loosen the mill to barely crack anything and then jam a knife down periodically to get the rollers going. After several minutes doing that, I finally got it all milled then had to remill it all at a tighter setting to get good extraction. sheesh!!

It always seems like something little happens while brewing, you just gotta roll with the punches and learn from mistakes. Did you hit your OG?

i hit 1.052 with 1.055 goal. not bad!
