Oldish DME

I have about a 1lb of DME that has been in my freezer for about 5 months and it was not sealed tight. I was planning to dump this in a brew along with some fresh LME.

Is this a bad idea? How long for DME to go bad?

Since it " wasn't sealed tight", what does it smell like? It could've soaked up smells/flavors from other things in the freezer?
