I recently received about 2 gross of crown caps that may be over 10 years old. How can I tell if they are still usable?

I also received around 2 gross of VERY old soda crown caps, that have cork inside them instead of rubber. Can these be used without effecting the beers shelf life?

you could uncap a commercial beer then recap it with one of your old caps then shake it to see if it holds pressure..

As long as the cork holds pressure I'd think it'd be OK.

But caps are cheap so you might also want to weight whether or not it's worth the risk of storing your beer using them.
