Old Bottle Caps

I was fortunate enough to get all my brewing equipment from a family member for free as long as I give him some of the beers I brew. I can live with that!

About 100-200 old bottle caps came along with all of his stuff. By old, I mean they have never been used, but they have been sitting around for about 6 years. Since these are old, are they still okay to use? Or would I be better off just buying new bottle caps?

As long as they aren't rusty or have bad seals, I'd sanitize and use them.

They should be fine to use. Rinse any dust off of them and soak them in sanitizer. I started brewing with hand me down equipment also. Bottle caps were included and they got used.

It's not like your talking 20 year old cork backed ones. Like chump said, as long as their not rusty they should be fine.

Thanks for the replies! I figured it was okay, but I didn't want my lack of experience to ruin a bunch of the IPA that I am now dry hopping.
