Old (3 years) bottle caps

is there a test to check if these are still good? They may be a tad over 3 years old. should I just pitch and get new ones?

Why would you think that they'd go bad???????

If they're not rusted then they're fine to use.

I have been using caps that i got with my starter kit back in 2000 to bottle beer from my keg for travel. I started kegging after my 1st batch. Like said above unless there rusting there fine.

They're plastic and metal, right? What can possibly "dry out?"

Sill using the last of 1996 homebrew comp. caps from Sam Adams got 1000 for 2.75 the cost to ship

I bought some caps once from a second-hand store. They came in a rather ragged cardboard box and I guarantee they were older than me.
After being sanitized they worked great.

I still have some 500+ from 1992...haven't had any leakers yet.

Ok well 5 gallons bottled up and in the dark cellar aging.

What temps are they cellaring at? If you want them to carb you need to have them above 70 for at least 3 weeks, BEFORE you age/cellar them.

I found my dad's old homebrewing stuff from 25+ years ago and used his old caps without any issues!

The only one's I'd be concerned about using are old cork lined caps.

I don't think they hold up too well over the decades. Cork dries out.

Zactly. A buddy of mine gave me caps that were over 10 years old. No rust...I used 'em.
