Is it ok to make starter wort hours in advance of pitching yeast? I'm planning to brew on Saturday, and I'd like to give the yeast a good 36 hours to propagate, but I won't actually have my yeast until later tonight.

Would it cause any problems to make the starter wort this morning, cool it, and store it in the refrigerator (covered with sanitized foil) for 8-12 hours before pitching yeast?

Should be fine. I typically use my extra wort from my sparges (about 1.015-1.020) and save it in the fridge until my next batch. When I am ready to brew I boil it and pitch once it's cool. I have boiled early and pitched late the same day. I will put the wort in my flask though and cover until ready to pitch.
