OG high...common?

I just did my 4the batch tonight..I got a kit from AHS for Boddingtons pub ale...My OG was 1.054 and the target was 1.044 according to teh directions...should I be worried about being high? The other three batches I did hit right on the mark. I did upgrade to the White Labs pitchable liquid yeast...will this make a difference in attenuation?

Was your wort evenly distributed when you took your reading?

are you sure you topped up to a full 5 gallons?

There's virtually no way for an extract batch to be above the expected OG, unless you intentionally added extra fermentables.
