So, I always used to think of a winter warmer as not having spices, but apparently it does (and not an official style too), according to numerous posts on hbt. What I'm thinking of is a relatively high gravity beer, but not quite barley wine territory. Dark. Maybe brown/porter middle-ground. Quite bitter, but not much to no aroma hopping... some hop flavor. Rich, but not sweet. No spices or fruit or anything. Clean ale yeast.
