So I pitched two packets of rehydrated yeast on Sunday night into 5 gal of 1.064 wort. I am using a 7 gal Speidel fermenter and I usually see airlock activity after a day or so. After taking a peak inside the vessel, I see a thick krausen and smells like fermenting wort. I assume everything is going as planned. Am I just worrying too much? Yeast was US-05 by the way.

Worrying too much? Yup. You must not have got a good seal so the CO2 found some other place to leak out instead of the airlock. You got a krausen so it seems like you have fermentation.

That makes sense now that somebody mentioned the seal. I lost the rubber gasket that fits inside the lid. Went without it this time. Thanks
