I have no idea on where to start or what all the technical terms are if someone can point me to a website where I can learn all about it that would be great.

Sometimes it helps to have a visual of the process.

if you like how to brew website, buy his book, excellent, also dave miller's homebrewing guide. this is a great hobby, i read, read, and read some more before starting. i absolutely love this stuff.
