I am starting to brew and want to eventually jump to kegging. How many kegs will a 5lb CO2 cylinder handle before needing a refill? I am referring to 5 gallon corny kegs.

I'm on my 4th batch right now. I'm hoping it lasts through this one. The key is to not waste it. Escaping gas comes out a lot faster than it gets used in a keg.

Assuming a leak free system, the general rule of thumb is that every pound of CO2 will carbonate and serve between 1 and 2 corny kegs, depending on the carbonation level and how much you use to purge. So a 5# tank should last between 5 and 10 kegs. I typically get ~8 kegs out of my 5# tank.
