My name is Wayne and I have been distilling for 3 years but I know I am doing something wrong and I admit it so wanted to talk with some people that I can get some real help from the internet is not the best place for info

Welcome to HBT from Texas. I don't distill (well I do, but not for alcohol) because I don't need or want the ATF in my life (they came for the still but stayed for the plethora of guns and ammo)🤣. I'm a chemist so I have a rudimentary understanding of distillation and many hours under my belt. My still is organic chemistry glassware. Packed column.

Distilling ethyl alcohol is illegal (my great grand daddy and great uncles did it back during prohibition) and I can't help you with that. But, if you have some general distillation questions not involving ethyl alcohol then please ask.

Lets say for example you are distilling wood alcohol (methyl alcohol CH3OH) , extremely toxic but has a boiling point of 65 C or so (very close to ethanol) which is 78 & 1/2 C if I remember correctly.

For starters = Do you know how many theoretical plates your current set up has?

If we're going to chat about this, lets make this chat about a methyl alcohol still . You, me and anyone else chiming in will be much happier.

Welcome to HBT. You are welcome to visit our Distilling forum, where you can read and ask questions. Sharing knowledge about distillation is not illegal, even if distilling ethanol is.

Thank you for the reply. I live in Arizona, and it is completely legal. As long as I do not sell it so for personal consumption I can distill as much as I want. So I will be looking into your distilling forms. I have been experimenting with peaches, but the yeast that I use. It's not producing any alcohol trying to get some help from some distillers. That have had good results, and what yeast they used
