Here’s my “new” refrigerator. Just got it home. It may or may not run. Time for a quick clean and see if it’ll work. Soon to be a diy project. Not that I need another project. The free part was more than enough for me to grab it up!
Hopefully in the next few months I’ll get to it.
Cheers

Dang! Takes me way back. Hope it works for you!

Old fridges are real lookers, I can remember getting black label beer or schlitz out ou one, then the big ca-chunk of the latch. I was going to get one for a kegerator, until my brewer neighbor talked me out of it, said it would use a lot of power,😐

I have heard on here (HBT) that they are actually more efficient than you think. That marketing was created to get you to let go of these great old last forever fridges for new energy-efficient ones that only last for a limited time. The insulation in my old fridges is Batt Fiberglass insulation rather than spray foam so maybe a little less efficient there. I've got 4 that I use for fermentation chambers or they double for dispensing fridges. One of those has been permanently added as a dispensing fridge to my collection of 3 other kegerators. There have been a few repairs needed to keep them going. I think I put a new Jump Start Relay on 2 of them and a fan on another one. My electric bill is huge compared to others in my size/age home according to my electric company report. Something like I spent $2000 more last year than the average home. But to be fair I brew with electricity while running 2 window AC units and 2 fans while brewing in the summer. I also have 2 other fridges, a freezer, a hot tub, and 2 kids that used a ton of electricity in their gaming setups, 3 monitors, and a tv each. I like the look of the older fridges and they are usually the ones you can score for free on Marketplace or CL.

Well, the cord definitely needs to be replaced. It only has power to the very back edge of the fridge. I’ll post this over in the diy section when I actually start working on it.
Cheers
