Hi all! I just recently made a batch of honey mead, and it looks a bit "odd" to me in certain areas. I followed the receipe and this is a do it yourself kit

1. Sanatized all equipment
2. Added 3 lbs honey
3. Added water and shook till well mixed
4. Added water rest of the way to the top and shook well again
5. Added yeast and very gently stirred it just to make sure it was even distrubed.

Now this thing is def fermenting. I see tons of bubbles coming up from the bottom, and I am getting air lock bubbles like crazy. Since its my first brew, I just wanted to make sure that everything looks well. Thank you in advance!

Is this a mead krausen?

i am just wanting to make sure this isn’t some sort of bacteria/infection growing in here

You shook it with the yeast floating on top? Not a problem, just trying to determine what we're looking at.

It looks OK if that's the case. What are you using for nutrients? You may want to take a few minutes and read the link in my signature 😉

Keep track of your gravity, and in a few weeks you will have mead.
