New Tap has more Threads, does it matter?

Installing a new tap and it has more threads than the one it's replacing causing some threads to still be exposed unlike before. Do they make different shanks and should I replace the shank also or is this ok?

I haven't snugged it up and run sanitizer thru it yet, I didn't want to bugger up the gasket if it was the wrong shank for it.

That looks like a Perlick 650SS which may have issues with some shanks because of the compensator "stick-out" from the shank end (that's the round projection seen in the picture). It uses the standard shank gasket, but it does require the shank face not be "flat" - it needs a bit of a well carved into it...

shanks all use the same threads and gaskets as far as I know.

but some are "hollow" to allow for a return spring (forward sealing types). Some are solid with a small center hole for the beer.

As long as the faucet "mechanism" can move it should work fine.
