Nice set of photos! I'll probably never go AG, but I'm fascinated by the process. Seeing the snow briefly gave me The Fear, but I got over it. :)

Your pot looks like the pot I have. Is it by chance a royal industries SS with aluminum bottom?

Next time I'm out there, I'll check. I bought it at a restaurant supply wholesaler. It is SS with a thick clad bottom. It's a great pot, I was hesitant to drill holes in it, but I'm glad I did.

I put my immersion chiller into a 3gal pot filled with snow. Then I ran the wort through the chiller to get it down to pitching temp. The pictures make the melted snow look like wort, but there is no wort in the snow, and no snow in the wort :)

It actually worked great, I had to recirc for maybe 2 minutes because it would only take the 212 deg wort down to 80 deg, but after a little recirc, I single passed it straight into my fermenter. The chiller and snow-pot are too small for this to work properly. It worked, but constantly adding snow/stirring slush made it as much work as whirlpooling with the immersion chiller. It was a neat proof of concept since I had everything on hand and the snow was free.

What I wanna know is...where did you get my kitchen flooring from? That linoleum is EXACTLY like my kitchen floor! Seriously!

Ditto. Almost. That's what apparently USED to be in our kitchen - there's a piece lining the bottom of the sink cabinet....

I was in North Pole August 2008 - visiting my daughter who had a summer internship at ARSC. Visited Silver Gulch Brewing. Twice... :)

Snow...I just cut my grass, and I live in Canada. Nice pics. Looked like you had fun brewing. Can't beat this hobby...

The house was built in the late '70's and that is the original linoleum.

Google searches for "old linoleum" and ''70's linoleum" prove it was a popular color/pattern.
