I brewed a pumpkin ale tonight and I made a PVC manifold that seems I got lucky on. Good flow and no grain husks in the lautering.
I wanted to get the remaining trub in the bottom out and slipped some grain into the boil. It seemed to float to the top and got most out of there. i think a handful dumped in and I got most out with a spoon.
Any idea of how many is too much husks?
thanx

I bet if it's just a few husks it won't make any difference. They'll fall out in the trub. There's a lot of room for variation in homebrewing. That is, unless you're following a recipe with exact specifications, or if you're trying to exactly duplicate something. Good luck with it!

Are you vorlaufing? If so, you shouldn't be getting any grain/husks into your brew kettle.
