I got a copper immersion chiller for a Christmas present! :ban::ban::ban:

I have ingredients ready to go for an English Pale Ale and will definitely want to use the chiller on the batch. What do I need to do to give it a nice thorough cleaning before the first use?

I've read things about soaking it in vinegar and water or just running hot water over it. Is this sufficient? I feel like there should be more scrubbing or soaking involved to remove all excess residue, dirt, or random particles.

Advice?

oops, i just stuck mine right into the wort after i had made it, might have been why that batch wast the greatest:eek:

Vinegar removes oxidation from copper and makes it look shiny. Some people enjoy having a shiny chiller. As far as cleaning, the mild soap and water solution will do more for cleaning the copper than the vinegar will.
