The hydrometer i got with my brewing kit sucks. I noticed today that it was sticking to the side of the test tube giving me inaccurate readings. I was looking for opinions on a good hydrometer that i should look at investing in

Spinning it in the tube helps, also make sure the tube is on something completely level, even a small angle will throw it off

Search ebay for brix refractometer. There is a company in so cal that sells that exact one shipped for 29.99. Works great and with a brix conversion calculator online, you can get sg and fg without temp adjusting and tiny samples. Some think they are not as accurate as a hydrometer once it starts fermenting and there is alcohol in the sample, but for the first few uses, i compared it to my hydrometer with consistent results. Worth a look..
