Any thoughts on improving the taste of the Coopers DIY lager kit especially with better yeast and hops? Let me know so I can make my first batch a memorable on! (A good memory that is!!)

I'd just play it with what ya got, K.I.S.S.

If you must, I think that beer is actually brewed with an ale yeast so use Safale US-05 yeast as a replacement.

Hop-wise I wouldn't do much and heres why: the kit you have is a no-boil kit, to get any bitterness from additional hops you need to boil the wort (with the additional hops in it). Boiling a no-boil kit actually (ironically) drives off hop bitterness and flavors from the hops that are already in the extract... I know this is confusing :)

I'm still of the opinion to just go with the kit. There's nothing wrong with a solid, well made kit beer. I don't know why everyone wants to fiddle with the recipe on their first batch ;)
