They have some nice features, but are not customizable. I emailed Blichmann to find out if you could get one with out the sight glass and you can't. I don't see a need for a sight glass on a boil kettle or a MLT. One more thing to clean or break. When I upgrade my boil kettle to 20 gallons, I think I'll go with the new kettles at Morebeer and have them weld a diverter plate in.

I agree with you on not needing a sight glass on a MLT, but on a boil kettle? Isn't that when you would MOST want one, so that you know what volume you've boiled down to?

I've got a weldless one that I've been meaning to install on the keg, but alas.... I'm lazy ;)

Very nice.

But for the money, I'll stick with my hack job converted sankes, thank you.

As for the sight guage on the MLT and kettle. The jury is out for me.

Damn, I just bought three kettles, and now I hear about these things. They look amazing. The feature set is perfect. I don't think $350.00 for a 15 gallon kettle outfitted like this is outrageous; they're not cheap, but not that much more than an Italian kettle with similar fittings.

You just have no respect for unnecessary bling and that's just wrong. Seriously though, it's another greatly debated topic. I really enjoy the sight on my BK.

Nah, I use a stainless steel yard stick. I can tell how many inches are in the kettle and convert to gallons real easy. I do have a sight glass on my HLT. I can quickly look to see how much is left in it while sparging and not having to take the lid off. Keeps it from losing heat. And since it's only water in the HLT, I don't have to clean it.

50 gallon with all the Blichmann goodies - I'm drooling. Imagine how much fun it would be to boil 40+ gallons of wort.

Dude, my whole 3rd bay of my garage is a giant brewery. I got plenty of unnecessary bling. :D I just don't want something that serves a limited purpose and will need to be cleaned and can easily break while cleaning it. I'm not saying other people shoudn't have one, just that it would be nice if it was an option and not a standard item.

Does anyone else find it scary that they have little girls posing in boiling kettles?:drunk:
I imagine he is proud of his kids plus, it sort of puts the scale of the kettles in perspective.

Love the kettles, probably will have to pick one up, I really like the fermenters.:D I see one of those soon.:D

Has anyone ordered and received these kettles yet? I am going to order a 15G Mash Tun and 20G Boil Kettle. Just cant see spending that much money on an HLT just to hold water. I have a 16G SS Pot i used to use for a brew kettle, so ill use that for the HLT on my new Brutus I'm building.

The only drawback for me will be not being able to just move lids from kettle to kettle, but im going to get the valved quick connects so moving hoses wont create alot of drips and spills.

I ordered them from NB last week. I spoke to John Blichmann mid week on another matter, and he said my kettles would ship in about a week. He is getting inundated with orders and had to contract the assembly. I can't wait to see these things. The design features are amazing.

Ok, i just broke down and ordered the 20G and 15G with kettle screen and false bottom for brew kettle and mash tun respectively.

Cant wait to see these things....and i wanted to make korndog feel guilty as he talked me into it.

Ill post review when i get them.

Well we have to see these things on your brew stand...chop chop.

Its been a while since i've looked at brew porn and i wont get my stand until this weekend. Then its paint and assembly time. Hopefully my kettles arent too far behind.

false alarm. just my stainless enclosure and some Westvleteren from Belgium. Jeez, if she thought those were big, wait until she sees those damn kettle boxes. It's getting close Bugeater. Just waiting for LP conversion for my Honeywell valves and I am going to finish this baby up.

Well, I have my 20 gallon Blingman home. A new boil kettle. I can't use it till I get the Brew Haus built though.
