Hi everyone,

I got into brewing because of MR Beer. After a few batches I've moved on to doing 5 gal extract with steeping grains brews.
(Maybe in a few months Ill try all grain.)

I enjoyed the Mr Beer, but with all the work that goes into cleaning and sanitizing and boiling I rather do 5 gal batches.

I got the bug to brew before I realized this truth and I had previously bought a few too many Mr beer kits. Now I'd like to turn them into 5 gal brews, but I didn't want to simply double up.

So I have dared to make up my first recipe from scratch, sort of... I made this up to incorporate my Mr Beer hopped LME into the batch. also I had some 1/2 packs of Hopps and some LME/DME and Yeast left from other brews.

I don't want to let it go to waste, might as well turn it into beer...

Anyway let me know what you think

Bavarian style wheat beer:

Ingredients

1 ea 2.86 # Mr Beer Bewitched hopped LME
8 oz packet Mr Beer Golden LME
3 lbs Wheat LME
2 Lbs Wheat DME
1 oz Torrified Wheat
8 Oz Cara Pills
1/2 oz Tettnanger Hops
1/2 oz Austalian Galaxy Hops

Danstar Munich Wheat yeast

Process

Steep grains at 155 degrees for about 30 min w 2.5 gals H2O, Sparge w 1 gal 175 degree H2O

Add 1/2 oz Australian galaxy, boil for 45 min
Add LME/DME boil 15 min (late addition to keep color light)
Add 1/2 oz of Tettnanger at 3 min prior to flame out
Add cold water to 5 gals and chill on ice to approx 75 degrees
Pitch dry yeast
Primary approx 10-14 days
Secondary approx 7-14 days

Prime w 4.25 oz corn sugar, bottle and condition for approx 2 months

If I guesstimate correctly:
SG should be around 1.046-1.048
FG should be around 1.010-1.012

let me know what you think if this Bavarian 'ish Wheat beer recipe will be any good

thanks
