I have a Johnson Control A419 hooked to a chest freezer.

I've done trial runs at different temperatures and it has worked great. Now, today, when I finally try to put it to use for brewing, it is not cooperating.

I earlier today, I had the set point at 63 with a differential of 1 and I got down to 56 before I shut it off. I reset it at 65 with a differential of 2 and it held pretty close to 65. I knocked it back to 63, differential still at 2, and it was just reading 58 degrees.

any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?

any help is greatly appreciated.

thank you.:mug:

problem seems to have righted itself. I was getting off readings when the probe was lying against the side or bottom of the freezer. after putting the carboy in and attaching the probe to it, instead of letting it rest inside the freezer, it is holding consistent temps between 62 and 64 and my breakfast stout seems to be fermenting nicely.

I guess it's safe to disregard my post, above.
