My neighbor lady has offered me all the hops I want from her vines for free. I'd just like to know a bit more about them before I start tossing them in a kettle and going at it. She is not sure what kind they are, but she planted them at least 20 to 25 years ago. They look beautiful, the plants have no pest damage or infections, and are nice and vigorous. Heres a few pics of them:

Not an expert; I have 8 varieties I grow here and I'm not sure I could tell them apart if I didn't know which plant I was pulling from. In other words, I'm not sure you'll be able to identify. Generally, expect the alpha acids to be low. If I'm using mine, I double or triple the quantity. It's definitely a crap shoot, so don't count on them for bittering, but instead maybe flavor or aroma.
