If places west of Ulaanbaatar were colder than Ulaanbaatar, then so is Otgontenger.... But at least you're getting the idea of significant mountains.

Khorgo.
How are you supposed to play within the rules of not looking it up on Google since few of us have been to Mongolia.
Either Khorgo or the foothills of Mordor.
The Google rule isn't to stop you from searching for locations on Google via search terms, e.g. sacred mountains Mongolia. It is to stop you from using Googles Image Search feature where you upload the posted image and find the website where the image came from.

Burkhan Khaldun, best fit I can find East of Ulaanbaatar.
It is indeed Burkhan Khaldun, the most sacred mountain of Mongolia and the alleged birthplace and burial place of Genghis Khan. A few years ago it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It's about as famous as anywhere gets in Mongolia, and I wanted something in Mongolia as last Tuesday marked the centenary of Mongolia's first-ever constitution which proclaimed the Mongolian People's Republic. They'd been a colony of China for several centuries until finally declaring independence in 1911, but the next few years got a bit complicated for anywhere seeking Russia's protection from China so they didn't formalise things until 1924.

Bruce, you're up.

Hopefully nice and easy. Has a small connection to Genghis Khan.

I think that's about as far as I'm going to get. I feel I've seen a house half way up a hill, like that, on the motorway from Cardiff to Swansea, but I don't know what comes in between.
We can see the back of the station name and it's not wide enough to be lanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
