I recently had to get rid of a bottle of 85% Phos Acid because it turned brown. Not knowing why, I thought that was the best decision. Well my new bottle has started turning brown now. What is going on?

What kind of liner inside the bottle's cap? Maybe they used some paper or cardboard liner, it came loose and the acid attacked it.

I've spilled full-strength StarSan on wood and cardboard surfaces and it left dark brown burn spots.

It does have a cardboard looking liner…. Very interesting.

Where did you get yours, what brand?
Well Amazon of course haha... only place I could easily find high purity and 85% and food grade. Here's a crappy pic. Probably last me a lifetime.

I bought one gallon of 85% phosphoric in January 2021, and it's still crystal clear.

Not sure what would cause it to go brown, but something isn't right.
