Have a Wyeast smackpack (2001 Pils Urquell) that has been hibernating in my fridge for about 3.5 years- took it out and smacked it last thursday (july 28, 2011) I hate to throw things away, but I didn't have much hope for this one.

Production date stamp is 04DEC07 !!! looked to be flat dead, even until this morning- completely limp- came home from work today and it is tight as a drum-:ban:

Just made a 1.2l starter, will step it up over the next week and a half- will brew a SMASH pils- 2row floor malt and whole saaz :)

Took pics, but I guess they have to be imported from an online image host-
will work on it

Anyone else have experience with yeast this old? any problems? mutations, etc. ???
