If you want more information I recommend you make a visit to one of your local SSA chapters. There are several in the Chicago area. For you BeerWars that would be Windy City Soaring. I used to know some people from there but that was over 10 years ago.

You soared for 5 hours straight? I know you catch thermals - but I didnt realize you could fight gravity for that long!

Thanks for the info! I never knew there were any gliders in IL - I thought you needed terrain to create the temp fluctuations / updrafts.
