For my first batch I made a Pale Ale. It has been bottled for a week and a couple days, and I got a little anxious and opened one last night to see how it tasted. The smell was not all there (kind of bad but not horrible), and it tasted like it was too carbonated, and not amazing. Is the taste and smell something that will improve if I leave bottled for a couple more weeks, or is this just a first brew gone bad? Any suggestions will help.

By the smell was not all there what do you mean? Your beer is still very young. Give it a couple of weeks and it will improve.

Patience, grasshoppa!!

Your beer is green, very green. Keep it happy in a dark, cool place and forget it exists for another 3 weeks or so. Then it will knock your socks off.

The hardest part about brewing is waiting!! :drunk:
