After brewing from recipes on HBT for my 1st 8 Batches I thought it was finally time to put together my own recipe. I basically looked at other IPA's that I liked & took bits and pieces from them.

Third Eye IPA

13.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 89.66 %
0.50 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 3.45 %
0.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 3.45 %
0.50 lb Honey Malt (25.0 SRM) Grain 3.45 %
1.00 oz Amarillo Gold [8.60 %] (60 min) Hops 26.4 IBU
0.50 oz Cascade [7.80 %] (Dry Hop 7 days) Hops -
1.00 oz Cascade [7.80 %] (30 min) Hops 18.4 IBU
1.00 oz Cascade [7.80 %] (20 min) Hops 14.5 IBU
1.00 oz Cascade [7.80 %] (5 min) Hops 4.8 IBU
1 Pkgs California Ale (White Labs #WLP001) [Starter 35 ml]

Comments & opinions are appreciated & welcome!

Thx

Looks tasty, but more like an APA to my eyes. I would probably drop the specialty malts, do 1.5 oz Cascade for bittering, 1.5 oz Cascade at 15 min and dry hop with the Amarillo. Then again, its your show so do whatever you like!

Hard to comment without knowing the gravity and IBU of the recipe.

I like the looks of it though.

I think any IPA deserves at least 1.5 ounces of dry hop.

APA? interesting, I was thinking of using the Amarillo later in the boil and using more cascade I definitely want it stand out as a IPA.

my bad....

Est Original Gravity: 1.073 SG
Measured Original Gravity: 1.010 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.017 SG Measured Final Gravity: 1.005 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 7.33 % Actual Alcohol by Vol: 0.65 %
Bitterness: 63.9 IBU

By the way the honey malt was taken from your Tits-Up Imperial IPA recipe:rockin:

And I will up the dry hop thanks

I thought something looked a bit familiar. :D

I would definitely get the IBU's to match the gravity. A 73 gravity needs a 73 IBU. Build up the IBU's with some more later additions and you'll have a hoppoliscious recipe. :rockin:

More hops you got it!

BTW I am drinking a Black Pearl Porter right now that is by far the best beer I have made, thanks again.
