I've done several BIAB mashes where Beersmith had told me I'd have a large enough kettle and I ran over. So, last night I filled my 10 gallon pot up using gallon jugs. Turns out my 10 gallon pot only holds about 9.25 gal. Frustrating, but more incentive to upgrade to a keggle.

Kind of like a 16 GB flash drive has only 15.something. Or an 8GB ipod has 7.something. Rounding (although they are missing the .5 rule)!

I have never measured mine but I have a feeling its only 9 ish also. I just keep my boils to 7.5-8. This allows for the hot break and aggressive boil. But, I do 5-5.5 gal batches.
