Moving Hops

The good news: closing on a new house in early May that will allow me a basement brew space with plumbing and electric, plus a much larger yard for hops...

The bad news: my second year hops are already up and at it; anyone have any experience moving established plants? Pointers on how far around to dig? Better transport method than 5 gallon buckets?

Any tips are appreciated.

Dig them up with a spade and leave around 8 inches of soil all around them. 5 gal buckets work fine. How far are you moving them?
