Tasting Notes
My house IPA. I absolutely love this beer
I've spent a good amount of time getting this one just right, but last winter I finally nailed it. For those who are not familiar with hop bursting, it's basically adding most of your hops late in the boil. Since so much of your bitterness is coming from hops that are added late, you have to add a lot of them to get the IBU levels up. This contributes a TON of hop flavor and aroma to the beer. I add a little bit of Magnum hops earlier just to balance it out.

I've brewed this numerous times, now. I've done both the PM and Extract versions. The extract version is great, because you can do a shorter boil. The flavor is exactly the same using either version. This can also very easily be converted to all-grain, you just need to replace the light extract with some more two-row malt.

This has become my favorite IPA, commercial or homebrew.

Nice looking beer! I just read an article in Zymurgy about hop bursting - there is a recipe in there which uses a ton of late addition hops. Sounds like its the new way to go!

It definitely is! You get a lot more hop flavor and aroma.
