and using a large grain bag. Aside from the button getting really hot when you drian into your boil kettle, are there any other major issues? I need to convert my round cooler (bazooka on the way) but would like to brew this afternoon.

Send back the bazooka and go to your local Home Depot, Ace, Lowes, etc. spend less to get the parts needed and be up and running in no time.
Got a folding steamer? When I use my unmodified cooler, I stick one of these in the bottom. It lifts the grain bag above the spigot, and prevents the sparge from getting stuck.
