Does anyone know how many Amps the March 809 will draw at 230VAC ?
I need to make sure my float switch is capable.
Alternatively how many Watts is it ?
I assume the 120V and 220V have similair power ratings.

I just noticed that you were in South Africa, so maybe the 50Hz section applies to you (instead of the 60Hz section).
 
Disclaimer: I use a Little Giant 3-MD-HC pump, and not a March 809-HS.

At any rate, the differences in the model numbers comes down to pump head material and inlet location.

"PL" is a polysulfone head.
"BR" is a bronze pump head.
"SS" is a stainless steel head.

"C" means that the inlet for the pump is in the center of the head like this:
