im looking for something really sweet and malty, perhaps with a honey/cherry/vanilla/smokey flavor.

any suggestions>?

I make an old ale every year around this time.

OG=1.088
IBU=~40
Ingredients:
10.0 lb Maris Otter
2 oz Black Roasted Barley
4 oz Caramel Malt 80L
2 oz Belgian Special B
1.8 oz East Urbana Goldings (4.8%) - added during boil, boiled 60 min
1 lb Maple Syrup
3.0 ea White Labs WLP001 California Ale

Mash at 154ºF.

I use maple syrup that we collect from our trees, and the hops are ones I've grown. I put the syrup in at the end of the boil. GD that's a good beer. I think I'll go get one.
