Hi, all. So, I racked my DeKonnick clone to secondary on Monday after more than three weeks in the primary. I had hit my FG, which hadn't changed in 10 days, and intended to use the secondary as a clearing tank, as the hydrometer sample tasted delicious...all it needs is carbonation in the bottle and I am ready to go.
But...there is a hell of a lot of fizzing and activity in the secondary now, even a bit of foaming at the neck (the carboy is very full), and regular bubbles through the airlock. I'm not worried, just curious. Is this because the yeast were stirred up back into solution during the racking process? Or is it CO2 being released from solution as a result of the racking process? Or anything else?
Thanks,
CB
