Hey guys/gals I would like to brew a nice pale ale to drink during the summer months. I recently had a three Floyd's pride and joy mild. I'm not an expert here nor have I ever had any other milds but from my readings the pride and joy would fall somewhere in the pale ale category. So I'm not looking for an exact clone by any means but I would like something that is almost just slightly more hoppy than malt forward,But something that you can definitely taste the malt.
Everyone's taste is different but The three Floyd's beer I tasted grapefruityness possibly orange and citrusy flavors and it followed up with a nice caramel malt taste and it was great.
Here's what I know about pride and joy from three Floyd's
Style: American Mild Ale
IBU 42 ABV 5%
From what I've tasted and read it's more hoppy than bitter not sure if that's a certain hop. Like some IPAs it's hoppy and then your expecting the bitterness well this one never comes the malt then hits.
So I need help formulating a nice malty caramel/ hoppy pale ale.
If anyone feels they can help me with out with a starting recipe I'll send you a 6 pack when it's all brewed up !!! Looking to make a 6 gallon recipe or 5.5 something along the lines of after the hops I'll end with roughly 5 gallons bottled
Thanks jake
