I flipped through the pages one time of a book on brewing and this one explained what each ingredient did and how it impacted a beer. It was good for formulation of recipes and such. Im sure there is more than one.

Thanks

"Brewing Classic Styles" by Ray Daniels is my favorite, but I also like "Radical Brewing" by Randy Moser for his exploration of non-typical brewing ingredients.

Ya I did and googled it but they dont describe what I am looking for in the description. At least not descriptive enough for me to buy it

I really liked "The Complete Joy of Homebrewing" by Charlie Papazian. It starts at square one and goes on from there. I'll probably be picking up the book that follows it, "The Homebrewer's Companion", soon.

Yes, more or less. Im racking my brain trying to remember the book. I liked it because it had the malts lined up with a description.

The ones mentioned so far look good and close to what I want

Theres also brewing classic styles a book that is similar to Ray's book havent read it but ive been told its a good book. Ray's book is awesome and an easy read. I still attempting to read Noonan book on Largering very scientific but another good book.

The Daniels book, Designing Great Beers, starts out describing the individual ingredients and the properties they give to the finished beer. The second half of the book outlines his approach to designing beers to meet certain styles.

The book information is a little bit dated, but it still has a lot of info which is extremely useful in designing beer recipes.

That book is my go to if I have a question or screw up something. The Water, Hops, Yeast books are great for breaking down the individual components.
