When I know I'm going to have more than one beer, and I have several to choose from, I always go light to dark and weak to strong. For example, if I have a wheat ale, a reddish lager with a lot of body, and an oatmeal stout, I will drink them in that order.

Am I the only person who does this? It just seems wrong to start out with the heavy stuff and then move down.

I'd add IBU's to the algorithm. It's not about color, but boldness of flavor IMO. You can't appreciate a delicate beer after your taste buds have been overwhelmed.

Brew on :mug:

I’d also factor in low hop to high hop punch. Try drinking an amber lager straight after a hp bomb pale. It tastes of nothing!

I tend to go malty to hoppy Which often means dark before light
