I bought some rice syrup solids at a store that is closing and I want to try making a decent LIGHT beer for a buddy and for summer.

Any suggestions on what percentage to add? I've done corn before, but never rice. My corn lager turned out ok, but still not light enough for my buddy I think. It's not as good as some other lagers I've tried either. Besides the Rice Lager, I'll be brewing an adjunct free version as well.

I've never brewed with rice syrup solids, but with cooked rice........... It had a flavor I really don't care for...... but I don't care for BMC much.

If you are using rice syrup solids, I would keep the addition to a maximum of 20% of your fermentables. That may even be a bit much.

I suggest that the AHS proportions would be a good guide. Austin Homebrew uses 1 lb in their:

AHS American Rice Lager (1B)
BE1-R01911NIV

This is a traditional American-style beer that attains its light color and body using rice instead of corn. It is similar in style to Budweiser.

Featured hops: Mt. Hood
Other additives: rice syrup solids
