So, I just made my first batch of beer yesterday and when I went to my LHBS they had an immersion chiller, which I sprung for. Main problem is, because it sticks out the top of the stew pot I can't put the lid back on while it cools. Suggestions?

It cooled pretty quickly, a lot quicker than I expected, and I got it from there to my fermenter right away, but I don't want to risk contamination in the future.

If you are feeling ambitious, you could always drill a couple of holes in your lid and permanently mount them together. Alternately, aluminum foil does the job.
