Hi All,
I am trying this again to see if there is any knowledge out there on Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat YEAST but a disclaimer first:
1) I do not want to know the blueberry or fruity pebbles flavor of Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat.
2) I do want to know what the characteristics of this yeast would be.
I have established that it is a lager yeast but does anyone know the proper fermentation temps? I have a temp controller so is trying to hit between 50-54 a wise choice? Here is the recipe which I hope to be a style of Dortmunder:
90 min boil/ not sure about the mash but I am thinking I will do in steps (122 for 20, 154 for 60, 168 for 20). Seems the traditional route for this style but I am open to suggestion.
5lbs German Pilsner
8oz Vienna Malt
8oz Crystal 20L
1oz Saaz at 60min
.25oz Saaz at 15min.
Finish with my Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat Yeast I have a stockpile of. Just need to know what environment the yeast will be happiest in....Please advise:rockin:
