My in-laws used to really like their beer. I was never a big fan. The occasional summer shandy was fine, but other stuff just wasn't my jam.

I found their regular beer to be an acceptable option.
I wouldn't drive far to get one but it is not bad.

The most offensive part of the story for me is that Miller Coors won't sell it back to them.
That kinda says they're looking to eliminate the small brewery through liquidation.
But it is a tough business.

Perhaps one reason not to sell the brewery is its immediate proximity to the Lennie Lodge that MillerCoors is planning on operating...

Ultimately, however, it's a matter of money. They're probably not allowed to put their name on anything related to beer again, but if the family offered enough to take back both lodge and brewery, it wouldn't make financial sense for MC to turn that down as surely the Chippewa Falls area market doesn't represent enough to be all that interesting to a global company like MillerCoors and whomever owns them these days...

Cheers!

Their wording suggests to me that they intend to create something like the "Heineken Experience" in Amsterdam.
They took one of their older breweries in the city proper and turned it into a tourist spot.
That would complement the "Lodge". Simulated brewery tour, a couple of 6 oz beers and the opportunity to buy some swag.

I think the Leinenkugals are also offering to buy back their branding rights.

I doubt that happens.

Really sucks to see and makes me sad that I never took the opportunity to check the place out since its reasonably close.
Check their web site. From what I see there and from what I saw in the news, the lodge is still open and there are opportunities for tours of the pilot system.

And the beers will be still be make (in Milwaukee).

A bunch of us retired pool guys and gal went up there a couple weeks ago to give it a proper send off. The campus has a lot of history, it would be something to see it as a historic site or museum.
